Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi yesterday laid emphasis on the promotion of trade and investment ties with Malaysia to accelerate the development activities in Bangladesh.
“Bangladesh is moving towards a developed country. We should promote trade and investment ties with different countries, including Malaysia,” he said in a meeting with a delegation of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) led by its President Syed Moazzam Hossain at his in Secretariat in the city, said a press release.
Among others, Additional Secretary Shafiqul Islam, Joint Secretary Noor M Mahbubul Haq and BMCCI Vice President Raquib Mohammad Fakhrul were present in the meeting. Moazzam Hossain proposed undertaking an initiative to sign Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Malaysia by ensuring Bangladesh’s interest, which has been a long pending issue.
