Medical admission seekers demanding cancellation of recently held admission test yesterday said they are ready to provide proofs related to question paper leaks and urged the government to sit with them to address their ongoing movement.
The students also gave an ultimatum to the government to accept their demand of holding a re-examination by today and to punish the perpetrators behind the leak.
The admission seekers announced a solidarity rally and photo exhibition programme in front of the National Museum at Shahbag in the capital on Friday. Educationists, students, guardians and intellectuals will participate in the programme, they said.
The agitating students made these announcements during a sit-in programme at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital yesterday. Some left leaning organistions and students of different medical colleges also joined the programme to express solidarity to their demands.
Strongly protesting the recent comment of the health minister that the ‘leak of medical admission question paper is a rumour’, Tanzira Biswas, on behalf of the agitated students, said, “We have enough proof about the question leak. If the government has any doubt over the incident, let them stop beating us using the police and sit with us. We are ready to provide the evidence.”
About the ultimatum, she said, “We would announce non-stop programme from Saturday if no effective steps are taken to fulfill our demands by Friday midnight.”
At the end of the sit-in programme, students brought out a procession that marched through the TSC area and ended again at the Central Shaheed Minar.
On Wednesday, several protesters were injured in the capital during a clash with police.
