Another case was filed against Awami League MP Manjurul Islam Liton of Gaibandha-1 constituency, who allegedly shot a minor boy in Sundarganj upazila, early Wednesday on charge of vandalism and looting, reports UNB.
Hafizar Rahman, a resident of Shahabaz village in Sundarganj upazila, filed the case against Liton and nine others.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-charge of Sunadarganj Police Station Israil Hossain said police recorded the case after verifying the facts.
The case statement said on Friday, Liton, along with his men, attacked Hafizar’s house in the area and vandalised and looted it.
It also said the goods looted from the house were kept in Shah Ali Cold Storage owned by Liton.
Hafizar Rahman said that he filed an FIR against Liton and nine others on Sunday over the incident.
Later, police recorded his case after confirming authenticity of his allegations, he added.
Earlier, a case was filed against Liton on Friday for attempting to murder a minor boy by shooting bullets at Gopalcharan village in Sundarganj upazila.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal yesterday said that the law enforcement agency will arrest Manzurul Islam Liton, Member of Parliament (MP) from Gaibandha-1 constituency, if he does not surrendered in court at earliest.
“We gave him (Mp Liton) time to surrender before the court. Otherwise, our law enforcement agencies will find him out and arrest him in charge of attempt to murder of a minor boy,” he told reporters at his secretariat office yesterday.
“None is above the law. He should surrender,” the minister said.
On October 2, MP Liton allegedly opened fire on a nine-year-old schoolboy named Shahadat Hossain at Sundarganj in Gaibandha. The boy received bullet injuries on both of his legs and is now being treated at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
About the recent killings of two foreigners, the home minister said the BNP-Jamaat-men may have been involved in the killings.
“They may have taken up a new technique to destabilize the country ahead of a possible execution of death sentence of two war criminals who committed crimes against humanity in 1971,” the minister said.
Our law enforcement and intelligence agencies are working on it and they will find out the real culprits behind the killings,” Asaduzzaman Khan said.
