Robbers looted goods from three shops at Uttara Super Market killing a night guard in the district town early yesterday. The deceased was
identified as Kazi Diar. Additional superintendent of police Munshi Shahab Uddin said a gang of armed robbers broke open the gate of the market.
At one stage, the robbers tied up the hands and legs of Diar and strangulated him to death as he tried to resist them. Later, they looted valuables and cash from the three shops and fled the scene.
Local people found the body of Diar lying on the floor of the market on Thursday morning and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to a hospital morgue for an autopsy.
A case was filed in this connection.
