Describing blue economy as a very significant factor for the country's economic growth, President Abdul Hamid yesterday asked Bangladesh Navy to remain more alert to collect and preserve marine resources. He made the remarks when newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury met him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon. Aurangzeb officially took the command of Bangladesh Navy on January 26. President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Joynal Abedin said the navy chief apprised the president of overall activities of the naval force during the meeting. As Bangladesh Navy has already turned into a three-dimensional force, the president described it as a matter of pride for the naval force and expressed the hope that Navy will go ahead under Aurangzeb's leadership.
The new naval chief also sought directives and cooperation from the president. Secretaries concerned to the president were also present.
