JnU 'B' unit admission test today
The admission test for the first year honours courses under ‘B unit’ of Jagannath University (JnU) for 2015-16 academic session will be held today from 3pm to 4.30 pm.
The admission seekers must have to carry SSC and HSC registration cards and two copies of admit card of admission test on the exam centre. The candidates have been advised not to bring any electronic devices in exam centre.
However, the aspirants must have to follow the new dress code, the new strategy to avert any kind of forgery in examination hall, says a university press release.
The detailed of seat plan and others are available at JnU website (www.jnu.ac.bd). The university authorities have completed all arrangements for holding the examination.
Meanwhile, teachers of Jagannath University (JnU) have withdrew their decision
to boycott admission tests till October 31, 2015 demanding separate pay scale for the university teachers.
The decision came out at a meeting with academic council on Thursday morning. “We decided to conduct admission test of ‘B unit’ only considering the aspirants part. We have not decided anything about other admission tests of the university yet”, says a press release of Teacher's Association yesterday. On Wednesday, the JnU Teachers’ Association announced they would boycott the admission tests till their demands, including new pay scale for university teachers, are met.
DUAA reunion today
The Eid reunion of Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA) 'Alumni Adda' marking its 67th founding anniversary will be held on the campus today, says a press release.
The programme will be held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) at 4pm today.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique will inaugurate the programme. DUAA president Rakibuddin Ahmed will preside over the programme where former VCs of the university and professor emeritus and other alumni members will attend the reunion. Later, a cultural programme will also be held.
DU Kha unit admission test today
The admission test for the first-year honours course under Kha-unit of Dhaka
University for 2015-2016 session will be held from10am to 11 am today, said a DU press release yesterday.
The admission test will be held at 69 centres on the university campus and outside the campus, it said. A total of 31,163 admission seekers have applied against 2,296 seats under the unit of the university, the release added. The seat-plan of the admission test will be available in the university website admission. eis.du.ac.bd.
HSC examination of BOU begins today
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examinations-2014 of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) will begin today, says a press release.
A total of 1,72,8 05 students will appear at the examination in 1st and 2nd year final exam. A total of 382 examination centers have already set up throughout the country to conduct the examination. The examination will be held on Friday and Saturday in the morning and evening. The examination will conclude on December 5, 2015.
The university authority has taken all steps to conduct the examination in a copy free atmosphere with the help of administration.
DU to observe World Mental Health Day
Dhaka University (DU) has chalked out two-day long programmes to observe the World Mental Health Day-2015 on October 10.This year the theme is ‘Dignity in Mental Health’.
The Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology (DECP) and Innovation for Wellbeing Foundation (IWF) will jointly organise a workshop at RC Mazumder Auditorium from 9am to 1pm.
DU Vice Chancellor (VC) AAMS Arefin Siddique will inaugurate the workshop.
Clinical Psychology Department, Bangladesh Clinical Psychology Society (BCPS) and Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit (NPU) will jointly form a human chain in National Press Club at 9am.
Later, a seminar will be held in Teacher-Student Centre auditorium at 11am in this regard. Pro-vice-chancellor (education) Prof Dr Nasrin Ahmad will attend the seminar as the chief guest with Prof of Clinical Psychology department Dr Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman in the chair. Besides, free psychological evolution and psychotherapy services will be arranged from 10am to 5pm at TSC Games Room. Student Guidance and Counseling Office and DECP will arrange a day-long mental health information stall in TSC premises on October 11.
Institutional quality assurance cell opened
The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of Eastern University was formally inaugurated on the campus on Wednesday, says a press release.
Mesbahuddin Ahmed, head, Quality Assurance Unit, HEQEP, UGC, inaugurated the cell.
Vice Chancellor of Eastern University Abdur Rab chaired the session. The inaugural session was addressed by Sharif Nurul Ahkam, director of IQAC of Eastern University, who informed the audience about the specific quality related activities in Eastern University. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, pro-vice chancellor of Eastern University, emphasized the need and importance of quality in education for higher educational institutions.
The programme had two technical sessions where Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed gave the faculty members of Eastern University a general idea about the quality assurance process. The session ended with a lively question and answer session.
Memorial lecture held at DU
Professor Dilip Kumar Bhattacharya Memorial Lecture on ‘New Horizons in Sanskrit Studies’ was held at the RC Majumder Arts auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday.
Prof Dilip Kumar Bhattacharya Research Centre of DU organised the event. DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Nasreen Ahmad presided over the function while former Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi Radhavallabh Tripathi delivered the memorial lecture. Chairman of the Department of Sanskrit Dulal Kanti Bhowmik and Prof Narayan Chandra Biswas also addressed the programme while Director of the research centre Prof Madhabi Rani Chanda conducted it.
It may be mentioned that Dr Dilip Kumar Bhattacharya, late professor of the Department of Sanskrit of DU, was born on February 02, 1948 in Narayanganj and died on October 28, 1999 in Dhaka.
