DU VC urges students to fulfill nation’s expectations

Dhaka University (DU) Vice chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman yesterday called upon students to work hard to fulfill the expectation of the nation as well as families and societies. The VC said this while addressing as the chief guest at the orientation of the 1st year honours students of different departments under the Faculty of Social Sciences of DU at TSC auditorium here, a DU press release said here. Office of DU students’ counseling and guidance office organised the programme. Director of Students’ Counseling and Guidance Office Prof Dr Mahjabeen Haque presided over the event while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Sadeka Halim addressed it as special guests, the release said. Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to prepare themselves with combination of merit, truthfulness, patriotism and honesty. They must equip themselves with the spirits of Liberation War, non-communal and humanitarian values to serve the nation, the VC added. He said students have to work together to uphold good reputation of DU around the world. He hoped that DU students would defeat frustration, depression and financial challenges and be successful in life. The university authorities will provide all out support and cooperation to the students in this regard, he added. Meanwhile, Chairmen and Students Advisors of different departments were present on this occasion.
Spring -2019 orientation held at UIU

United International University organised an orientation programme to welcome the newly admitted students of Spring-2019 held on the university premises on Saturday, says a press release. Students from School of Science and Engineering and School of Business and Economics took part in the colorful orientation. Sheikh Kabir Hossain, chairman of Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) was present as chief guest while Faridur Rahman Khan, Vice-chairman of Board of Trustees of United International University (UIU) was present as special guest. The Vice-chancellor of UIU and the Programme chair Prof Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahaman thanked the students for choosing UIU toward crafting their lives.
Workshop on university management held at IU

A daylong workshop on 'Effectiveness of university management' was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday aiming to create qualified officials. IU Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organised the workshop at the seminar room of Central Library around 10 am. IU Pro Vice-chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahman addressed the workshop as the chief guest with IQAC director Abdus Sobahan in the chair. Director of Public University Management Division of University Grants Commission (UGC) Kamal Hossain attended the programme as resource person where IU Treasurer Prof M Selim Toha spoke as special guests.
