Sohan expects tough match with Vikings

Dhaka Dynamites wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan said Sunday that the momentum they gained so far in the current BPL want to maintain it in the next matches of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) sixth edition.

Dynamites flew to Sylhet from Dhaka with a all-win record as they played four matches in the first-leg in Dhaka and triumphed all the matches. They, therefore, tasted their defeat in Sylhet to Rajshahi Kings by 20 runs but they returned to Dhaka after they thrashed Sylhet Sixers by six wickets.  

“All the teams in BPL are very much competitive. It is happened in Twenty20 that the team who play better cricket the day would be for them,” said Nurul Hasan Sohan, who used to follow Adam Gilchrist but currently he picked showing YouTube what is best and suited for him. “The momentum we gained so far in the BPL want to continue it in Dhaka also,” Sohan told media before their training session yesterday.

“It’s then possible if we could perform well,” he added.

The wicketkeeper-batsman said that they will attempt their best to play as per the situation the team demand.  

“From all the aspects, we are passing a very good day. Every player is performing from their respective position regardless of local and overseas players,” he said.

“The team always demands from us that we perform as per the situation. Our target will have done that thing well in the next matches,” he continued.

Sohan, considered No 1 wickeeper of Bangladesh,  described Chittagong Vikings as better side and said that the team who will do better will be winner in the next match of the BPL.

“Of course, they are good side. They are playing good cricket. Yesterday we saw a high-scoring match what they won by doing well in all the three departments- batting, bowling and fielding,” he said.

“I hope, those who could give their hundred percent and play according to the situation of the match will be winners,” he added.

“In Twenty20 cricket, the team combination and momentum are the most important elements. I think, Chittagong Vikings are in good momentum and playing better cricket. Mushfiq bhai is in the side is performing in every match. The biggest thing is that they are playing better cricket,” Sohan noted his assessment about Vikings, who closely followed table-toppers Dynamites with eight points.

When asked about his performance in BPL, the lanky wicketkeeper said, “I don’t think much about myself. I became satisfied if I could contribute though it is a bit to my team’s success.”

Aliss Al Islam, the wonder of Dynamites, stunned all to slam hat-trick on his BPL debut sidelined with ligament injury. When asked about Aliss’ injury up-date, Sohan said, “It’s difficult for him to stage a comeback soon. I think, he has problem in ligament. And if it is happened, in that case, many more times might be needed for him to fully recuperate.”

“Physio can tell well about it. We are yet to get full report about his injury. Inshaallah, we will get to see him in action after being healed as much as possible,” he added.
