Almost all local stalls and brands have managed to attract local and foreign customers at the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF). People are thronging the fairground during weekdays and also on weekends at Agargaon in the capital.
Local brands like PRAN Foods Ltd, Akij Food and Beverage Ltd, Nadia Furniture Ltd and Walton group have been exporting their products to foreign countries after meeting the domestic demand.
According to EPB sources, this trade fair helps local companies to showcase their products to foreign customers and prepare an effective platform for
them in different markets abroad.
PRAN foods ltd has been exporting their products since 1991. It now exports its products to more than 132 countries. In all, 300 million customers consume PRAN’s product across the globe.
Jannat Rose, sales representative of the pavilion, said that Walton is offering an 8 per cent discount on television sets and refrigerators in the fair. Free home delivery is being provided if any customer purchases these two products from the fair, she added.
“We're running the  ‘Crore Taka Offer’—if a customer purchases products equivalent to Tk. 10,000 or more from us, we'll give them cash vouchers of Tk. 200–1 lakh,” she told The Independent.
Walton Primo ZX3 and Walton Primo E8i are the two most saleable products in the fair so far, she said.  “Refrigerators and televisions are being sold more than mobile phones here," she added.
Shafiqul Alam, in-charge of the Walton pavilion, told The Independent that Walton is offering around 100 types of products including laptops, mobile phones, refrigerator, television sets, washing machines and eco-friendly LED lights.
Loads of discounts and cash backs are being offered on different products, and some gifts are also being given on purchasing other products. “Last year, we made a profit of around Tk. 15 crore. Our profit may increase up to Tk. 25 crore this year,” he added.
“We have introduced two-door glass door fridges in this fair. We are getting huge responses from people.
This product costs Tk. 60,000," he said.
He also said that LED television sets are selling like hot cakes.
"We're now ready to import this product. Taiwan has already started legal import procedures to buy LED televisions from us," he added.
Vision Electronics, a popular brand of electronics products of PRAN-RFL, has come up with huge discounts and offers for customers in DITF.
Mahabubul Wahid, general manager (marketing) of Vision Electronics, said that customers will enjoy 7 per cent to 20 per cent discounts on purchasing products from their pavilion in the fair. “Customers will also get refrigerators, LED smart televisions, washing machines, air coolers, electric ovens, rice cookers and electric irons as prize. We're exhibiting 25 new types of products on the occasion of the fair,” he added.
“Prices of these products range from Tk. 500 to Tk. 350,000. There are free home delivery facilities across the country for customers who would buy products over Tk. 10,000 from the fair. Vision also offers free installation facilities based on products,” he said.
Kamruzzaman Kamal, marketing director of the PRAN-RFL Group, said: “We are participating at the fair to introduce our quality electronics products to
domestic and foreign customers. Generally, the longevity of electronics products largely depends on their proper use."
