Two police officials were stabbed during a drive at Rangiaghona in Banshkhali municipality area of Chattogram yesterday to arrest an accused, leaving them injured. The injured are assistant sub-inspectors Pradip Chakrabarty, 32, and Nur Nabi Tipu, 37, of Banshkhali Police Station. In-charge of Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost Zahirul Islam said a police team conducted a drive at the house of Jamir Uddin, an accused in an attempted murder case, at noon. However, the family members obstructed the law enforcers during their drive, he said. At one stage, Jamir's mother Shamsunnahar hacked Pradip in the neck with a sharp weapon. As Tipu came in the rescue of his colleague, she also chopped him, Zahir said. Police arrested Shamsunnahar after the attack.
