4,127 cases filed over traffic rule violations in capital

The traffic department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 4,127 cases and fined Tk 20.83 lakh in separate special drives against traffic rules violators in the capital on Friday.

Fifteen vehicles were sent for dumping during the drives. Among the cases, 848 cases were filed for using the wrong lane, 82 for using hydraulic horns, two for beacon light, one for using sticker and four for using dark-tinted glass, traffic department sources said.

Cases were also filed against 1,762 motorcycles for violating traffic rules. “Seventy-four motorcycles were seized during the drive,” said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.

“Special drives are being conducted alongside routine works,” he added.
