Sports organiser Bacchu no more

Country’s renowned football and volleyball organiser Sirajul Islam Bacchu died of renal failure at 4 pm yesterday at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was 71.
A confirmed bachelor Sirajul Islam, was a former general secretary of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation and also a member of Bangladesh Olympic Association and Bangladesh Football Federation executive committee. He was also associated with Wari Club over four decades.
His body was taken to Wari Club from the DMCH at 7 pm and later the Namaj-e-janaza of Sirajul Islam was held at BFF Bhaban ground after Esha prayers.
The BOA, BFF, volleyball federation, BSJA, BSPA, BSJC and Abahani Limited mourned the death of Islam and expressed their heartfelt sympathy with the bereaved family.
