at least 15 people were injured during a clash between police and Awami Leauge activists following arrest of some party men in Charfassion sadar upazila yesterday morning. Police said Awami League activists brought out a procession in Charfassion upazila town in the morning following the arrest of five people, including Charfassion upazila Shramik League Joint Secretary Abul Kaseem Bathan, for their alleged involvement in land grabbing and collection of illegal tolls. At one stage, they threw brickbats at the police station. In the ensuing clash 15 people, including some police officials, were injured. Seriously injured Bathan has been admitted at Bhola Sadar Hospital.
Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of Charfassion police, said police have brought the situation under control.
