Instructing the police officers concerned to quickly hunt down the killers of two foreign nationals, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque yesterday said there is no organisational existence of militant outfit IS in Bangladesh, reports UNB. “One may be inspired personally by IS ideology, but we’ll never let the country to turn into a militant one,” he said while addressing a quarterly crime review meeting at the Police Headquarters. He urged the police officers to tackle the challenge of militancy with an iron hand. “All the conspiracies will be crushed against our country,” the IGP added. “The police have already been able to demonstrate successes in curbing militancy, extremism, acts of sabotage and crimes in the country in the recent past, “Assistant Inspector General (Media) at the Police Headquarters Nazrul Islam quoted the IGP as telling the meeting. He said the IGP instructed the senior police officers to remain alert about reemergence of the banned Islamic outfits like JMB, HUJI or in other names.
