Bangladesh end Pakistan tour on sorry note

Sports Reporter

Bangladesh women’s cricket team finished their tour of Pakistan on a sorry note as they lost the second ODI, also the last match of the series, by six wickets in a low-scoring encounter at Southend Club Cricket Stadium yesterday.
After the nine-day-tour, the visitors will be returning home empty-handed as they stumbled to defeat in all four matches. They were whitewashed in the ODI series 2-nil following the shocking drubbing of another 2-nil in the Twenty20s.  Having sent to bat first, Bangladesh yesterday managed to post a paltry total of 123 for nine in 50 overs, which Pakistan overcame with 11.3 overs to spare.
Bangladesh made a good start but Asmavia Iqbal provided the breakthrough for Pakistan when she ripped through the top-order of the visitors. Iqbal sent back Shamima Sultana, Farzana Haque and Lata Mondal in the space of just four runs when the visitors were struggling at 24 for three.
Ayasha Rahman tried to tackle the initial batting collapse with the help of fellow batters but Bangladesh fell into another trouble after Rahman’s departure. This time, Anam Amin did the rest to confirm the visitors’ collapse with her spin-magic as she tore apart the middle-order of the Bangladesh side.
She got rid of skipper Rumana Ahmed, Ayasha Rahman and Jahanara Alam. Ayasha of course struck 39 before being dismissed.
Ritu Moni and Nigar Sultana’s late fire helped the tourists cross the 100-run mark. Nigar Sultana smashed an unbeaten 30 off 109 with two boundaries. Ritu Moni made 28.
Left-arm spinner Anam Amin was the most successful bowler of the home side. She showcased her best bowling figure with four for seven and later was adjudged the player of the match. She was ably supported by Asmavia Iqbal, who finished with three for 28.
