Jessore district unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party in a press conference yesterday demanded withdrawal of the cases against its leaders and activists, including national standing committee member Tariqul Islam, by the police on Monday.
Professor Golam Mostafa, vice-president, Jessore district unit BNP, read out the written statement at the press conference held at Jessore Press Club.The press conference was also attended among others by Mohammad Musa, vice –president, district unit BNP, Ferdaus Hossain, assistant organizing secretary, Mortaza Elahi Tipu, general secretary, Jhikargachha upazila unit BNP, Hasan Jahir, general secretary, Sharsha upazila unit and local leaders and activists of the party and its front organizations.
Police on Monday afternoon filed a sedition case against a total of 34 BNP leaders. They also include Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, general secretary, district unit BNP, Maruful Islam, mayor, Jessore Municipality and also president, Jessore town unit BNP.
Earlier on Monday, police also arrested Syed Saberul Haque Sabu from his residence.
