The Election Commission (EC) has sought information over Rohingya refugees from three ministries with a view to keeping them out of the country’s voter list, reports UNB. The EC yesterday sent letters, signed by EC’s senior assistant secretary Mahfuza Akter, to the Home Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, the NGO Affairs Bureau and Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar seeking the information. In the letters, the Commission asked the government agencies to provide it with data over Rohingya refugees migrated from the Rakhine state of Myanmar. EC secretary Sirazul Islam said the Commission collects the data so that it can check their enrolment in the voter list.
