At least 15 Awami League activists were injured in a factional clash at Purinda in Araihajar upazila on Monday night. Police quoting local people said there was a conflict between Abdul Wadud, chairman of Satgram union parishad, and Zainal Abedin, president of Juba League of Satgram union unit, over an issue of arbitration in the union. On Monday afternoon, supporters of Zainal brought out a procession chanting slogan against Wadud. At one stage, both the groups locked into a clash, leaving 15 people injured. Two of the injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition. OC of Araihajar police station Sakhwat Hossain confirmed the news.
Police brought the situation under control, the OC said.
