7-day remand sought for Shahadat

Police yesterday sought a seven-day remand for quizzing cricketer Shahadat Hossain who surrendered to a Dhaka court on Monday
in a case filed against him allegedly for torturing his domestic help.
In response to the police plea, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Nuru Miah fixed Thursday (today) to hear on the petition.
Magistrate Miah fixed the date when Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Model Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced Shahadat before his court and sought a seven-day remand for him.
Earlier, a court on Monday sent Shahadat Hossain to jail after rejecting his bail petition in the case.
Shahadat surrendered before the court after police arrested his wife, Nrittya Shahadat, from one of her relatives’ house at Malibagh in the capital on Sunday.
Later in the day, the police produced Nrittya before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Yunus Khan and sought remand for her. In response to the remand plea.
