Two SSC examinees reportedly took their own lives on Saturday after failing to pass the examinations this year in Narail and Bagerhat districts. According to our Narail correspondent, Touhidul Islam, son of Abdur Rahman of Fedi village and a student of Birshrestha Noor Mohammad High School in Sadar upazila, hanged himself from a tree branch on Saturday evening, apparently after his father rebuked him for failing the exams for a second time, family sources said. Headmaster Abdul Majid Sardar said only Touhidul failed to pass the exams from the school for two years in a row. “It is very unfortunate for us that instead of preparing to retake the exams with confidence, he killed himself,” Sardar said. “The family should stand by the side of students who fail and treat them kindly,” he added. Motiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said a case of unnatural death has been filed and further action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report. UNB adds from Bagerhat: A girl who failed the SSC exams committed suicide on Saturday at Samadderkhali village in Morelganj upazila. Mousumi Hawlader, daughter of Salam Hawlader, allegedly took poison in her room on Saturday afternoon after finding out that she had not passed the exams, said OC of Morelganj police station Rafiqul Islam.
