Executive Magistrate Bipul Chandra of Lalmohan was seriously injured in an attack by a group of fishermen during a drive against the fishing of hilsa in the river Meghna yesterday morning. Local people said as Bipul Chandra arrived on the river bank of Meghna at about 9 am to conduct a drive a group of fishermen attacked the magistrate and pelted brickbats at him. Zakir Hossain, upazila nirbahi officer of Lalmohan, said a brickbat hit one eye of the magistrate. He has been admitted at Lalmohan health complex. Upazila Fisheries Officer Ali Ahmed filed a case with Lalmohan police against 40 fishermen. Deputy Commissioner of Bhola Selim Reza said stern action will be taken against the accused persons.
