Rights activists yesterday demanded that Awami League MP Manjurul Islam Liton’s parliamentary membership be scrapped for allegedly shooting a minor boy in Gaibandha on Friday, reports UNB. The demand came from a human chain formed by Jago Bangladesh Shishu Kishore Foundation, a child rights organisation, in front of the National Press Club. Speaking on the occasion, foundation president Jamal Shikdar said the barbaric incident will tarnish the government’s image and leave a question mark on its efforts to stop child repression and abuse in the country.
