Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal yesterday said the government will not leave any stone unturned to capture the assailants of two foreign nationals and there will be no rest until the job is done, reports UNB. “The government is giving the highest priority to the arrest of the killers of Ceasare Tavella and Hoshi Kunio,” he told diplomats in a joint briefing at state guesthouse Padma. The Home Minister said the government strongly believes that Bangladesh will not be the hub of terrorist groups in any way. The people of Bangladesh are not fanatic in nature but they are very much pious and faithful to their respective religion, he said. Khan also described the security measures taken for the diplomats and other foreign nationals living in Bangladesh. Around 2,24,000 foreign nationals are living in different cities, towns, village and remote areas in Bangladesh, according to Home Ministry data.
On IS claim, the Home Minister said no proven document has surfaced yet in favour of the presence of IS in Bangladesh. “However, we keep all our law enforcement and intelligence agencies alert round the clock,” he added.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, the Home and Foreign Secretaries, the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of Rab, the DMP Commissioner were present at the briefing and interacted with the envoys.
Diplomats from all the foreign missions stationed in Dhaka, the heads of UN agencies here and the chiefs of international organisations were also present.
