GAZIPUR: Four people were killed and 10 others injured in separate road accidents in Sadar and Kaliakoir upazilas on Tuesday morning, reports UNB. One of the deceased was identified as Rajendra Barman, 45, a resident of Lutiarchala village in Sadar upazila, while identities of three others could not be known immediately. Officer-in-charge of Gorai Highway Police Station Humayun Kabir said a head-on collision took place between a bus and a covered van at Hijoltoli the on the Dhaka-Tangail highway at about 6 am, leaving a passenger of the bus dead on the spot and 11 others injured. The injured were taken to Kaliakoir upazila health complex where another passenger succumbed to his injures. Besides, officer-in-charge of Mawna highway police station Helalul Islam said a bus carrying workers knocked down Rajendra Barman at Bhabanipur on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sadar upazila in the morning when he was crossing the road, leaving him dead on the spot. Apart, a bus helper was killed in a road accident at Bhabanipur on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sadar upazila at about 5:30 am. Police said a Gazipur-bound bus hit a roadside island in the area as the driver lost control over the steering, its helper fell down from the vehicle and was crushed under its wheels.
