Salt crushing factories fined in Ctg

A mobile court yesterday fined owners of four salt crushing factories with Tk 20,000 in Chittagong city for not adding iodine to salt. Chittagong District Administration Executive Magistrate Sharmin Akhter conducted the mobile court with the help of the law enforcers in Majhirghat area in the city. Magistrate Sharmin Akhter said owners of the four businesses were fined with Tk 5,000 each as per Iodine Deficiency Diseases Prevention Act, 1989. The errant businesses were Messers Popular Salt Crushing Industry, Messers Janani Salt Crushing Industry, Messers Sumon Salt Crushing Industry and Messers Sea-side Salt Crushing Industry.
