Two minor girls found dead

Police recovered two bodies of four-year-old girls from ground floor of the seven-storey building in Shahjalal road area in Demra of the city on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Nursat, 4, daughter of Palash and Dola Akhter, 4, daughter of Faridul of the area.
On information, police recovered the bodies from the ground floor of the building, aid Siddiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Demra Police Station.
It is assumed that the girls were tortured and strangled to death as injuries found in different parts of the bodies, the OC added.
Madrasa teacher stabbed
to death in Ctg

A madrasa teacher was stabbed to death by miscreants in Barobkunda area under Sitakunda upazila of the district on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Emran Hossain Riad, 28, a teacher of Sitakunda Alia Madrasa, hailed from Sonagazi upazila of Feni district.
Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda thana said Riad stabbed to death centering an altercation over damaging light posts of the road beside the residence of victim in Barobkunda area under Sitakunda upazila.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed with Sitakunda thana.
2 killed in Ctg road accident

Two passengers of a CNG-run auto rickshaw were killed as a lorry ran over them in EPZ area under Chattogram Bandar Thana yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Razu Mia, 40, and Noman,31.
Assistant Sub Inspector Alauddin Talukdar of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) outpost said the accident took place around 4 am when a tank lorry hit the CNG-run three-wheeler leaving its passengers critically injured.
Locals brought them to CMCH, where the attending doctors declared them dead.
DMP files 4,103 cases for traffic rule violations

Traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in their simultaneous drives on the city streets on Monday filed 4,103 cases against different modes of vehicles for traffic rule violations.
It also realised Taka 23.14 lakh as fine for traffic rule violation, said an official release.
Of the total, 822 cases were lodged for driving on wrong sides, 88 for using hydraulic horn, six for using hotter and beckon light and 18 others for using tinted glass.
Police filed 1,665 cases against motorcycles and seized 121 others for violation of the traffic rules.
Obituary: Begum Rawnak Afza

Begum Rawnak Afza, mother of Mercantile Bank Limited Chairman AKM Shaheed Reza passed away in the capital yesterday, says a press release.
She has been suffering from kidney disease and few other old age complications. She was 75. She has left two sons, one daughter, grand children and many relatives and well wishers to mourn her death.
Her first Namaje Janaja was held in Uttara.
The Board of Directors, all executives, officers & employees of Mercantile Bank Limited expressed deep shock at the death Begum Rawnak Afza.
