GOBESHONA annual conference
inaugurated at IUB

The International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised an inaugural ceremony of the 5th GOBESHONA Annual Conference on the university campus in the capital yesterday, says a press release. The 4-day long conference will end on Friday.
GOBESHONA is a knowledge platform on climate change in Bangladesh, organising the fifth annual conference to share research based solution on the climate change impacted areas.
The whole conference divided into 3 sections; (i) Youth Day, (ii) Science Conference and (iii) Science Policy Dialogue. First three days of the conference have been allocated for the researchers to share their experiences on climate knowledge in Bangladesh, and final day will be dedicated for Science Policy Dialogue Day.
Dr Saleemul Huq, Director of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) at IUB welcomed the guests. Dr A Atiq Rahman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) spoke at the session.
In his key-note presentation Andy Parker, Honorary Senior Research Fellow, University of Bristol, highlighted on Solar Geoengineering and stated that solar radiation management (SRM) projects were a types of climate engineering which seek to reflect sunlight and thus reduce global warming.
Edith Ofwona Adera, Senior Program Specialist, The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) also spoke on the session as special guest.
SEU will host ACM-ICPC Dhaka

Southeast University (SEU) will organise the Association of Computing Machinery-International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC) Dhaka Regional 2019 in October this year in collaboration with ICPC Scout Team. A meeting was held where Prof.
Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin, Vice-chancellor M Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Representative Member of BoT, SEU Trust, Prof Dr AFM Mafizul Islam, Adviser to BoT and Head of BoT Office, SEUT, Prof. Dr Abul Lais MS Haque, Dean, School of Science Engineering Shahriar Manzoor, Associate Professor of CSE Department were present on behalf of SEU. Prof William B Poucher, ICPC Executive Director, Prof Jeff Donahoo, ICPC Deputy Executive Director and Prof. C Jinshong Hwang, Director of Asia Contests were present on behalf of ICPC Scout Team.
RU to celebrate Bangabandhus Homecoming Day tomorrow

The authorities of Rajshahi University (RU) will celebrate the historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner on Thursday.
RU student adviser Prof Dr Arjuman Ara Banu confirmed the matter through a press release yesterday.
The day-day programmes will begin with hoisting of the national and party flags at its offices, place wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, rally and millad mahfil.
RU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Abdus Sobhan, pro vice chancellor Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Saha, pro vice chancellor Prof Md Chawdhury Zakaria, treasurer Prof Dr Mostafizur Rahman, proctor Professor Dr Luthfor Rahman, among others, will present on the programme.
On this day in 1972, Bangabandhu, the supreme commander of the countrys Liberation War, returned to his independent Bangladesh after his release from solitary confinement for nine and a half months in a Pakistan prison.
