Stock market maintained upward trend, with the daily transaction rising steadily and investors taking short-term position mostly in financial stocks, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX and the blue-chip DS30 closed the day nearly flat at 4833.34 and 1842.87 respectively when the Shariah DSES ended in red at 1168.15.
The day’s trade value was 7.86 per cent up at Tk 414.83 crore and the volume was higher by 12.09 per cent at 11.30 crore shares when bank, food and allied and miscellaneous closed higher.
The day’s lagging sectors were fuel and power, NBFI, pharmaceuticals, mutual funds, telecom and textile.
The market remained for buyers, with 167 securities among 323 traded issues closing lower. Only 100 issues ended the session in green.
The top five gaining scrips were Green Delta Life, Islamic Finance, 7th ICB, BRAC Bank and Continental Insurance.
The top five lagging issues were Tallu Spinning, Modern Dyeing, 4th ICB, FAR Chemical and Saif Power. Beximco Pharma topped the turnover list followed by Saif Power, Squire Pharma, Brac Bank and GP. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) was also flat on Tuesday on higher trade.
The broader CSCX index gained 6.52 points to finish at 9020.92. Only 84 issues closed higher against 134 losing scrips when 1.61 crore shares changed hands for Tk 34.66 crore.
