Amu lauds Danish efforts

Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu welcomed the Danish entrepreneurs and investors to join hands in Bangladesh's road map towards green industrialisation, reports BSS.
During the first day of his visit to Denmark at the invitation of Danish Minister of Employment, Jørn Neergaard Larsen, the minister held discussions with a group of top Danish companies dealing with renewable energy, financial investment, water supply and sanitation and wind power at the Confederation of Danish Industries (DI) - the mainstay body of Danish industry, an official release said yesterday.
During the meeting Amu urged the Danish companies to invest and share their expertise in developing green solutions to energy need, waste water treatment and waste management to ensure a sustainable approach towards development with minimum possible environmental footprint.
The Danish companies showed serious interest in sharing knowledge with and transfer of green technology to Bangladesh.
The minister expressed his optimism to benefit from the experience of Denmark which has already set its target to completely discontinue use of fossil fuel by 2050.
Later, the minister met the Head of Global Politic and Security Charlotte Slente and the State Secretary for Trade and Strategy Lars Thuesen at the Danish Foreign Ministry.
During his meetings he stressed on the green agenda of the government and expressed his hope that Bangladesh would receive increased Danish support in the relevant fields.
In the evening, the minister attended a seminar on Bangladesh organised at the prestigious 'Asia House' to celebrate the opening of Bangladesh Embassy in Copenhagen.
Bangladesh Ambassador-designate Muhammad Abdul Muhith was introduced by the minister to the audience. Ambassador in Dhaka Hanne FuglEskjær briefed the house about Danish partnership in the areas of water and sanitation, food security, renewable energy, mass education, ready-made garments (RMG) industry in Bangladesh.
The minister in his remarks invited the Danish investors and entrepreneurs to widen their involvement in green economy and to join with Bangladesh's journey towards sustainable development.
The Honorary President of 'Asia House' Carsten Dencker Neilsen commented that never before an opening of a Mission was celebrated in this manner and Asia House was proud to be a partner to mark the flying start of Bangladesh Embassy in Denmark.
