‘Kabiraj’ held for raping girl in Cumilla

Police arrested a kabiraj (herbal medicine practitioner) on charge of raping a minor girl from Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla district yesterday afternoon. The arrestee was identified as Nur Islam Gazi, 34, son of Chand Mia of Bohalgachia village in sadar upazila of Patuakhali district.

The arrestee used to live in a rented house in Takkarmath area of Fatullah where the victim, a five-year-old girl, was also living with her family, said Manjur Quader, officer-in-charge of Fatullah Model Police Station.

On December 31, 2108, Nur Islam took the girl to Patuakhali first and then to Dauadkandi upazila, said the OC adding that the culprit later violated her at a brick field.
