BotTala brings ‘Khona’ on Shilpakala stage today

Theatre troupe BotTala will stage the 65th show of its much-acclaimed production ‘Khona’ today at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

The play ‘Khona’ is scripted by Samina Luthfa Nitra and directed by Mohammad Ali Haider. The story of Khona is always shrouded in mystery, despite of numerous interpretations by people throughout the ages. But all stories eventually centring on Khona indicate that she was an astrologer just as her husband Mihir and father-in-law Varaha Mihir.

The playwright highlights the aspects of relationship between Khona and the common people transcending their respective class character and her total devotion to knowledge. Indeed, in one of the most important dialogues of this play, she says in as many words, that knowledge was above all. Knowledge ruled over emotion, relationship and all other worldly possessions.

‘Khona’ will be performed by Kazi Ruksana Parvin Ruma, Samina Luthfa Nitra, Imran Khan Munna, Mohammad Ali Haider, Mizanur Rahman, Abdul Kader, Chandan Paul, Taufique Hasan, Bratto Amin, Nasiruddin Nadim, Bakirul Islam, Humaira Akhter, Sharmin Ety, Pankaj Majumdar, Abdus Salam, AZM Kayes, Rafi Al Amin, Ziaul Abedin Rakhal, Borna Siddik, Muhib Ulla, Subir Kumar, Hasnain Shikdar, Evan Reaz, Zerin and Sheyuti Sheen Shahgufta.

Set and light design are done by Abu Daud Ashrafi while music is done by Bratto Amin, Sharmin Ety and Ziaul Abedin Rakhal; Tahmina Sultana Mou and Towfiq Hassan are in costume design and Nasiruddin Nadim and Mohammad Rafi are in choreography.

Tickets will be available in front of the hall before the show. One could call 01765978908 for advance ticket.
