At least 6 people, including two tourists, were allegedly abducted by armed miscreants from Bilaichhari, Ruma and Alikadam upazilas of Rangamati and Bandarban on Sunday. The abductees were identified as tourists M Munna and Jabiullah, and their local guide Mangcha Mro, another guide Lalging Bwom, and two local traders Nurul Islam and Muhammad Ali. According to Manjurul Alam, officer-in-charge of Bilaichhari Police Station under Rangamati, an armed group attacked tourists M Munna and Jabiullah, and their local tribal guide Mangcha Mro and abducted them from Seprupara of the upazila. Chairman Atuprue Marma of Baraitali union, a bordering area with Myanmar, said the security personnel were conducting raids in adjacent areas to rescue the abductees. In Bandarban, at least eight tourists were attacked by armed miscreants at Anandapara near tourism spot Keokradong Peak around noon, according to Sariful Islam, officer-in-charge of Ruma Police Station. The miscreants allegedly looted valuables from the tourists and abducted local guide Lalging Bwom, he said, adding that the police arrested one suspect, Thanchir Mro, from the spot. Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, local traders Nurul Islam and Muhammad Ali were abducted allegedly by Mro armed group from Kachapchari area, said the officer-in-charge of Alikadam Police Station. The abductors also demanded Tk 3 lakh in ransom, he said.
