BNP accuses govt of launching fresh arrest drive

BNP yesterday alleged that the government has again started arresting its grassroots leaders and activists ahead of its reorganisation process.
“We are observing with grave concern that the government has not yet shifted from its policy to suppress the opposition. We condemn the government initiative to limit the activities of the opposition further,” said BNP spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon in a statement.  
As part of the move, he said, police arrested general secretary of Jessore district unit of BNP Saberul Haq Sabu, organising secretary of Kishoreganj BNP Haji Israil Mia and general secretary of Kishoreganj Swechchhasebak Dal Shamim Ahmed on Sunday night.
Besides, we have received allegations that law enforcers raided the houses of BNP leaders and its front organisations in different districts.
