A five-day film festival featuring a total of six Bhutanese feature films and seven documentaries is going to end today at the Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, organised by the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Dhaka, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh National Museum. The festival has been arranged as a part of a year-long celebration in Bhutan commemorating the 60th birth anniversary of the fourth king of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, who ruled the country for 34 years from 1972 to 2006.
A popular Bhutanese film titled ‘Chorten Kora’ is based on the 300-year old legend of Chorten Kora’ along with other five films including ‘The Cup’, ‘Travellers and Magicians’, ‘Lengo- I & II’ and ‘Echung Lhamo’ has taken part in the festival. The featured documentaries and travelogues are: ‘School Among Glaciers’, ‘Price of Letter’, ‘The Red Door’, ‘Nazhoen Express’, ‘Price of Knowledge’, ‘The Cost of Climate Change’ and ‘Lingzhi: The Land of Medicinal Herbs’. The screening time for film and documentaries are at 10:30am, 1:00pm, 3:30pm and 6:00pm.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the event with Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Pema Choden, and Bangladesh National Museum Director General Faizul Latif Chowdhury, on Friday. l
