DB (Detective Branch) police conducting a drive at Khowajnagar under Karnaphuli Police station of Chittagong detained five suspected JMB (Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh) men along with nine hand grenades, a pistol, 120 rounds of bullets, 10 knives and explosives yesterday (Monday).
The identity of the detainees could not be known immediately.
The drive in a house of Khowajnagar led by Babul Akhter, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner DB (North-South) started from 6:30pm and was going on till filing the report at 8pm yesterday (Monday).
Police suspected the arrestees are trainers of the militant outfit.
Police sources said while conducting the drive the JMB men attacked on the police men.
Karnaphuli police sources said that in a rented house at Khowajnagar area JMB men people for training purpose, they were staying in the house for last five days said the source.
