Criminals attack slum in Mymensingh

Criminals allegedly attacked Brahmaputra Slum at Puratan ferry terminal in Mymensingh town yesterday afternoon. The criminals ransacked over 50 shanties of the slum and several shops during the attack, police sources
said. The gang also charged several crude bombs during the attack, local people said. Two persons -- Rubel Miah, 27, and Alal Hossain, 35 -- were injured in the attack and admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).
Quoting slum people, Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said there had been a feud between one Razib and Al Amin in the slum for long over establishing supremacy.
Al Amin was attacked and injured by Razib and his men recently, and admitted at MMCH.
Following the attack, Al Amin’s brother Alal Hossain lodged a case with Kotwali police station implicating Razib and some 40 others.
This had angered Razib and his men, who attacked the slum again yesterday afternoon in retaliation of the
previous attack.
Additional police have been deployed in the area to avert any further untoward incident, police said.
