Juba League leader hacked to death in Chattogram

A Juba League leader was hacked to death over establishing supremacy at Bhuiyanpara of Sitakund in Chattogram yesterday. The deceased was identified as Syed Mohammad Daud Samrat, 35, a follower of local Awami league (AL) leader Abdullah Al Mamun. Mamun and local law maker has rivalry in the area.
At around 4:30pm, the locals brought Samrat to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in critical condition, however, the on-duty doctor declared him as dead, said CMCH police outpost assistant sub-inspector Alauddin talukder. “A clash was erupted in between two groups in the area around 4pm yesterday. In the clash Samrat was allegedly hacked to death. We are trying to nab the accused person,” said Md Delowar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda Police Station.
2 detained with ammunition

Members of Bangladesh Army yesterday arrested two activists of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) with illegal arms and ammunition from Lakshmichhari area under Khagrachari district. The detained are Shumanto Chakma, 20, son of Bijoy Kumer Chakma and Dipankar Chakma, 22, son of Radimohan Chakma from Rainnamachara under Lakshmichhari upazila.
A team of Guimara Military Camp detained them from Rainnamachara area around 4 am, said an ISPR press release here today. They also seized a USA-made assault rifle ‘Cal 5.56 mm M4AI carbine’, a magazine, 53 rounds of bullet, a machete and mobile phones from their possession.
