Pabna: An assistant sub-inspector of Pakshi police camp was found dead at a field near Pakshi Paper Mill in Pakshi upazila yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Sujaul Islam, 35, hail from sadar upazila of Bogra district. Sub-Inspector of Pakshi police camp Rezaul Karim said Sujaul wearing his uniform left his house for performing his regular duty at Ishwardi EPZ and Ruppur Nuclear Palnt area on Sunday evening. Sujaul’s cellphone was found switched off around 9 pm and he remained missing since then.
Later, yesterday morning locals spotted the victim’s body and informed police. Police went to the spot around 8am and recovered the body with its hands and legs tied up, he said.
The body bore several injury marks including in the head and neck.
Police suspected that criminals strangulated him and dumped the body there. Sujaul’s cellphone and motorbike were missing. Additional superintendent of police (Special branch) Siddiqur Rahman said Sujaul joined as an assistant sub-inspector at Pakshi Police camp one year ago.
The motive behind the killing could not be known yet.
Local people alleged that Sujaul was a loyal policeman and he never compromised with the drug peddlers.
