Bangladesh football will have a busy year in 2019 in international and domestic arena as both the national and age groups of men and women’s teams when they will have the opportunity to play five FIFA friendly matches apart from AFC and SAFF competitions.

In last year Bangladesh played only two FIFA friendly matches with Sri Lanka at home ground and another in away ground against Laos when they conceded solitary goal defeat at home ground and drew 2-2 with Laos.

However, this year the FIFA window will open in March by 18-26, second window from June 3-11, third September 2-10, fourth October 7-15 and fifth from November 11 to 19, by these windows Bangladesh will have to their five matches.

But Bangladesh will miss the first window in March, as Bangladesh national squad is comprised with maximum age group footballers and this time Bangladesh Under-23 national team will play the AFC-Under 23 Championship.

In fact Bangladesh will play their international debut match of 2019 in March with taking part in the AFC Under-23 Championship to be held in Bahrain, which will also be counted as the qualifying round matches of the Tokyo Olympic 2020.

So Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is looking for  availing the opportunities from the second window in June.

Apart from the FFIA friendly matches, they will also play in the SA Games football this year in Nepal, the schedule is yet to be fixed. The general secretary of the BFF Abu Nayeem Shohag told media yesterday that they will miss the first window and will be able to play FIFA friendly matches from June.

Meanwhile, BFF President Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin expected that the 2019 will have more successful year for Bangladesh football when he was a bit satisfied with the 2018 performance.

Salahuddin, when talking to the reporters yesterday at the BFF office said that they will try to utilize the FIFA windows with playing matches with the teams outside the SAFF arena and teams of SAFF region.

Salahuddin also said that they are also thinking to organize Bangamata Under-19 international tournament with inviting some of the Asian strong sides in April and the Bangabandhu Gold Cup will be held in as usual schedule in October.

The BFF president also has some plans for higher training sessions of National team in abroad, like in Japan, Korea and some other countries but it depends on clubs’ programme.
