Two killed, 40 injured in road accidents

Two persons were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Charbasu area in Kamalnagar upazila of Laxmipur district yesterday morning. The deceased were identified as Chan Mehar, 52, and Delwar Hossain, 24, of the district. Officer-in -Charge of Kamalnagar police station Kabir Ahmed said the accident took place at around 8:30 am on Kamalnagar-Laxmipur road when a motorcycle carrying Delwar and his two friends plunged into a roadside ditch after hitting a woman pedestrian in the area. Delwar and pedestrian Chan Mehar died on the spot.
The two motorcycle riders injured in the accident were admitted to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital. In Dinajpur, At least 40 people were injured in a road accident at Jharbari area on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway under Phulbari upazila yesterday, reports BSS.
Police said the accident occurred in the area at about 11am when a bus fell into a roadside ditch after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 40 passengers of the bus injured.
The injured were sent to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex. Among the injured, seven were shifted to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital in serious
condition.
