Khalequzzaman turns 69

Khalequzzaman, one of the most affable character actors of the country, has turned 69 today.

The veteran actor has won the heart of the audiences with his performance.

DhakaLive has news that the actor intends to spend the day in a homely manner with his family. “At this age, I really don’t celebrate my birthday. But my children will celebrate my birthday like every year. I will be enjoying the day with them as always,” he said.

Appearing in both small and big screens, Khalequzzaman considers acting as an integral part of his personality.

Getting praised for his acting by the audiences drives the actor to give more of himself to the industry. “Acting is in my blood. It will be with me till I go on.”

However, the actor expressed regret at the occasional indifference showed to him in the industry.

“Our payment has remained the same since the day we started work. It is well below the rates of other artistes playing prominent roles. It saddens me, but I can not possibly do anything about it. I try my best in each and every project to keep my audiences happy,” he said.

Khalequzzaman is also a freedom fighter, and he was the deputy leader of  Bangladesh Liberation Force in Narsingdi’s Shibpur area.

He completed his Masters graduation from Institute of Fine Arts from Chittagong University.

His first tele-drama was ‘Sorpobrohme Rajju’, produced by Nawajesh Ali Khan, aired on BTV in 1976. His first film was ‘Anirbaan’, directed by the late Kamal Ahmed.

Khalequzzaman’s last acted film was Anam Biswas’s ‘Debi’.

His latest drama serial ‘Khalnayak’ is being aired regularly on Deepto TV.
