The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has collected Tk 75 crore from the two mobile operator companies – Banglalink Limited and Robi Axiata Limited – as their outstanding value added tax (VAT).
Out of the total amount, Banglalink paid Tk 47 crore while Robi paid Tk 28 crore for increase in their respective wealth in land and establishment.
Talking to the news agency, Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) Commissioner Muhammad Mubinul Kabir said the NBR had filed lawsuits against the mobile operators for collecting unpaid revenue.
Recently, the cases have been settled under the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process and Banglalink paid Tk 47 crore against three sues while Robi paid Tk 28 crore against four sues, he added.
Mubinul Kabir said another three lawsuits for Tk 30 crore against Banglalink and two cases for Tk 15 crore against Robi are ongoing. The cases will be settled as early as possible and NBR is likely to
collect the money soon, he added.
