The pioneering international folk music festival of the subcontinent ‘Dhaka International Folk Fest’ took place from November 15 to 17 at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital. Aiming to introduce the centuries-old folk music of the country to the world, Sun Communications Limited organised this mega festival for the consecutive fourth year.
This edition, a number of 174 artistes from seven countries, including Bangladesh, gathered on one stage to celebrate the music of the hearts. Eminent artistes and troupes like Momotaz Begom, Baul Abdul Hai Dewan, Baul Kabir Shah, Arnob, Nakshikatha, Swarobanjo and Bhabna Nritya Dol from Bangladesh performed during the three-day festival. On the other hand, Wadali Brothers, The Raghu Dixit Project, Satyaki Banerjee from India, Shafqat Amanat Ali from Pakistan, Majaz from Bahrain, Grammy award winner Los Texmaniacs from the USA, Dikanda from Poland and Las Migas from Spain came to Dhaka to celebrate the spirit of folk music.
