RAJSHAHIL: Instead of the conventional approach, services of field level administrative officials should be pro-people and need-oriented for welfare of the public in general, reports BSS. Besides, emphasis should be given on reaching the public services towards doorsteps of the masses so that they could derive total benefit of the public services. Emphasis should be given on the best uses of the ICT to this end. Speakers made these observations while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a six-month PO-60 Foundation Training Course held in the conference hall of Postal Academy in the city yesterday. "We Shall render service honestly and promptly" is the slogan of the course. Secretary to the ICT Division Shayam Sunder Shikder addressed the session as chief guest with Bohija Akhter, Principal of Postal Academy, in the chair. Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed, DIG of Police of Rajshahi Range Iqbal Bahar, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury and Additional Director of Department of Agriculture Extension Fazlur Rahman spoke as special guests. The chief guest said people-friendly public service is very vital for full-length reflection of the hopes and aspirations of the mass- people. He also put emphasis on freeing all the field level public services from corruptions and anomalies for the sake of establishing people's confidence on all tiers of the field administration and other public services. Terming the government officials and employees as the public servants he said the officials and employees should be committed towards the people's welfare.
He said the present government is committed to build a transparent, accountable, people-oriented, knowledge-based and dynamic public administration and different line departments and urged the participating officers to supplement the government endeavor. In the course, the participating officers are being provided necessary training, knowledge, instructions and idea on smooth conducting of the field level administrative activities. A total of 30 BCS cadre officers from administration, fisheries, agriculture, livestock and police are taking part in the foundation course.
