Youth killed in road accident
An unidentified young man was killed in road accident in Shah Amanat Bridge area under Bakalia police Station of Chittagong city on Sunday. Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost Nayek Abdul Hamid said, “A micro-bus hit an unidentified youth in Shah Amant Bridge area at around 10:30 am, leaving him critically injured. After that locals rushed him to CMCH where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.”

113 arrested in Ctg

Police in an overnight drives arrested 113 people accused in different cases from different upazilas of Chittagong district on Sunday. Naimul Hasan, Chittagong Additional Superintendent of Police, confirmed the arrest. Of the arrestees, one is an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami and 14 are activists of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir. “The arrested Jamaat-Shibir men are accused in cases of sabotage acts. Besides, 98 other people warranted and accused in different cases were held during the drive,” said the Additional SP.    
 
Police held with yaba tablets
A constable of Detective Branch (DB) of Barisal Metropolitan Police was arrested along with 45 yaba tablets from a hotel of Barisal city on Sunday night. Md Swakhawat Hosen, officer-in-charge of Barisal Model Kotwali police station, said the arrested DB police Md Sumon was involved in peddling drugs for long time. He said after getting secret information, Kotwali police raided the Band Road area of the city on Sunday night and arrested him with yaba tablets from a hotel name ‘Hotel Sukhi’.  A case was filed against Sumon with Kotwali police station. He was already suspended said BMP sources.

Discussion held at Gazipur

An open discussion on community policing was held on Joydebpur police station premises in Gazipur yesterday. Superintendent of Gazipur police Mohammed Harun-Or-Rashid was the chief guest while officer- in-charge of Joydebpur police station Khandaker Rezaul Hasan presided over in the meeting. Acting Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Asadur Rahman Kiron, Secretary of Gazipur city Awami League Mohammed Jahangir Alam, president of Gazipur town AL advocate Wazuddin Mollah, senior assistant police super Monwar Hossain, secretary of Gazipur Press Club Mohammed Aminul Islam and councilor of Gazipur city corporation Hasne Ara Joly, were present, among others.
