The licences of two firearms of Manjurul Islam Liton MP who allegedly injured a minor boy with stray bullets at Gopalcharan village in Sundarganj upazila early Friday, were revoked yesterday for ‘the sake of public safety’, reports UNB. Deputy Commissioner of Gaibandha, Abdus Samad, said that the licences were cancelled following the outcry over the shooting of the boy. Minor boy Sourav, 8, son of Sazu Miah of Gopalcharan village, was injured with stray bullets allegedly fired by Manjurul Islam Liton, MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency, at the village early Friday. Later, the two firearms—a pistol and a shotgun—of the MP were taken to Sundarganj Police Station. Stray bullets from the pistol of Liton struck Sourav when the MP was going to his Bamondanga village home driving his own car around 5 am on Friday, leaving the boy injured.
