Bar on mobile banking over election

Following the Election Commission’s (EC) instruction to restrict the impact of money on votes, Bangladesh Bank (BB) has imposed a restriction on mobile financial services (MFS) during the December 30 parliamentary polls. The central bank has asked mobile banking service providers to stop all sorts of dealings from 5 pm on December 28 till 5 pm on December 30. However, personal account holders can avail of the mobile financial services for dealings up to an amount of Tk 5,000 from 5 pm on December 29 till 5 pm on December 30, according to a BB circular.
