Schoolboy found dead in Gazipur

Police recovered the body of a schoolboy from Bahadurpur area in the city yesterday. The deceased was identified as Ishtiaq Hossain Nifat, a Class-V student of Vhawal Mirzapur Public School and son of Hazrat Ali of sadar upazila. Locals spotted the body near the victim's residence and informed police, said Samir Chandra Sutradhar, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Quoting family members, the OC also said that Nifat had gone missing since Wednesday noon after he went out for playing.

However, later in the evening, the abductors demanded Tk 30 lakh as ransom over his father's mobile phone.

Ashadul Haq, cousin of the victim, lodged a general diary with Sadar Police Station in the night. Police suspected that Nifat was strangulated to death, said OC.
