Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13 arrested three presumed militants of Jama’atul Mujahedeen Bangladesh (JMB) from Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district last night.
“A special operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur battalion headquarters conducted raid at Patgram upazila town and arrested the three JMB operatives with huge ‘jihadi’ books and leaflets,” a press release said here today. The arrested JMB operatives are: Shah Alam, 30, of village Sahebdanga and Sohel Rana, 28, of village Tepurgari in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat and Monisur Rahman, 26, of village Chengmari in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur districts.
During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had been remaining in hideouts for 4/5 years, conducting organisational activities, collecting funds, purchasing arms and planning for conducting subversive activities.
“The arrested militants also admitted that they had been inspiring innocent young people to become their new members,” the release said adding that efforts were on to collect information about other members of the outfit militant organisation.
