The South-Western Monsoon system, which ushered in the rainy season over the country in early June, is preparing to wind up in next couple of days, meteorological department sources said yesterday.
Already it has become less active over the country barring the southern region as the met office recorded northeast/northerly winds blowing over the Dhaka city at speeds between 8-12km per hour since yesterday.
The monsoon winds have retreated from the Bihar state of India on Saturday with its impact over the nearby north-western Bangladesh, where weather has started getting dry and cool in the morning.
The monsoon leaves first from Rajshahi and Rangpur division in the next 2 days and winds up from other areas in next five days, the forecasts said.
